Background of the Study
Agricultural policies, particularly those targeting staple crops like rice, play a crucial role in enhancing food security, creating jobs, and promoting economic growth. In Doma LGA, Nasarawa State, the promotion of rice farming through government policies has become central to both economic and political stability. Agricultural initiatives in the region, such as subsidized inputs, irrigation programs, and access to credit facilities, have transformed local economies and political dynamics (Usman & Mohammed, 2023). However, the relationship between these agricultural policies and political stability has not been comprehensively studied. This study seeks to examine how agricultural policies related to rice farming have contributed to political stability in Doma LGA, considering the challenges and successes of these programs.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
While agricultural policies, particularly in rice farming, are recognized for their potential to improve the local economy, their influence on political stability remains underexplored. In Doma LGA, the effectiveness of rice farming programs in stabilizing political tensions, reducing unemployment, and fostering community development requires deeper investigation. Given the challenges such as inconsistent policy implementation and inadequate infrastructure, this study aims to evaluate how these policies have either contributed to or hindered political stability in the area (Ibrahim & Bala, 2023).
1.3 Objectives of the Study
To evaluate the effect of agricultural policies on political stability in Doma LGA.
To assess the impact of rice farming programs on local economic development and governance.
To examine the relationship between political stability and agricultural policy success in Doma LGA.

In what ways do rice farming programs contribute to local economic development and governance in Doma LGA?
What is the relationship between successful agricultural policies and political stability in Doma LGA?
1.5 Research Hypotheses

Rice farming programs have a positive impact on local economic development and governance in Doma LGA.
Political stability is positively correlated with the success of agricultural policies in Doma LGA.
1.6 Significance of the Study
This study will offer valuable insights into how agricultural policies, especially in the rice sector, can influence political stability at the local government level. By examining the impact of these policies, the study will inform future agricultural and governance strategies aimed at enhancing socio-political stability in rural areas of Nasarawa State.
1.7 Scope and Limitations of the Study
The study will focus exclusively on Doma LGA, Nasarawa State, and will assess the impact of rice farming programs and related agricultural policies. The limitations of the study include potential biases in data collection due to the accessibility of participants and varying levels of program implementation across communities within Doma LGA.
